Leo Inspired Hair Tutorials

welcome to leo season!

to me, leo season is all about being bold and extra. during leo season, more is more. there’s no such thing as going overboard. it’s time to break out all of the accessories, all of the glitter, and all of the things that make you feel super bright and shiny. i wanted to share some hairstyles inspired by the leo vibe and break down how to create them yourself! all products and accessories are linked below

style 1 - big headband, bigger hair

  1. section out the bottom 3rd of your hair horizontally

  2. use a 1 in curling iron (i’m using the ghd classic curve) and take 1 in sections to curl

  3. use the “twist curl method” twisting and dropping the hair continuously as you move down the section you’re curling.

  4. alternate curls away from the face and towards the face to create more texture

  5. repeat twist curls in the middle and top sections

  6. for face framing sections, curl away from face

  7. spray with texture spray and let curls cool completely (5-10 mins)

  8. comb out curls with wide tooth comb

  9. tuck front pieces behind ears

  10. add a giant sparkly headband

style 2 - stars and space buns

  1. section out 2 pieces in front to frame the face

  2. part hair down the center

  3. take a small triangle section on both sides of the part and secure with elastic, creating 2 pigtails

  4. twist and wrap hair around elastics, shaping into buns, leaving out a good amount on the ends, secure buns with bobby pins

  5. add star charms to either side of the part

style 3 - extra high half up

  1. section out front pieces to frame the face

  2. gather hair from behind ears half up

  3. use a boar bristle smoothing brush to smooth hair into half up ponytail

  4. secure with an elastic

  5. add another elastic with gold hardware to finish

style 4 - gilded ponytail

  1. use a boar bristle smoothing brush to gather hair into a low ponytail

  2. secure with an elastic

  3. apply strong hold hair gel to a paintbrush and apply to front left section

  4. take a sheet of gold leaf and set onto gelled area

  5. use a smaller paint brush to create texture

  6. repeat on right side

  7. repeat on back section

  8. add another elastic with gold hardware

  9. back brush ponytail

  10. fluff to finish
